Rohit was born on 30th April 1987 in   Bansod, Nagpur, Maharashtra. His  father name is Gurunath Sharma and     his mother name is Purnima Sharma,   his mother is from Visakhapatnam.   Because of his father’s low income   Rohit was raised by his grandparents   and his uncle in Borivali, Mumbai. He   visited his parents house, who lived in   single room in Dombivli during   weekends. Rohit has one younger brother name Vishal Sharma.

Rohit joined cricket camp in 1999 helped by his uncle. He moved to Swami Vivekanand International School by suggestion of his coach Dinesh Lad because this school provides better cricket facilities. Rohit could not afford it, but his coach gave scholarship to him.

Rohit Sharma selected for first class deabut for India A team against New Zealand at Darwin in July 2006. Later he selected for Ranji Trophy for Mumbai in 2006-07 season. In Ranji Trophy against Gujarat he scored 205 off 267 balls.

Rohit selected for Internation Test match in november 2013. He debuted at Eden Gardens in Kolkata against the West Indies and hit 177 runs. In second test match he also hited 111 runs at his home ground the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

On 23 June 2007, Finally Rohit Sharma debuted in One Day Internationl match against Irelend in Belfast. This match was part of Future Cup 2007. This was triangle series. South Africa team was also a part of this series. In that match Rohit was at number seven in the batting order but his turn not came to and India won the game by 9 wickets.

On 18 November 2007, Rohit Sharma hited his maiden One Day International half-century (52 runs) against Pakistan. By performance in this match he was selected or the Indian squad going to the 2007–08 Commonwealth Bank Series in Australia. In that series he scored 235 runs. Rohit Sharma made his first ODI hundred against Zimbabwe on 28 May 2010.

He played his first World Cup in 2015. He played 8 match for India in the 2015 tournament in Australia. He scored 330 runs in this tournament with one century, a score of 137 in the quarter-final tie against Bangladesh.

He appointed vice-captain of India’s squad for the 2019 tournament in England on 15 April 2019. In the opening match of this tournament against South Africa he hited 122 runs.

He is only one cricketer in the history of the world to hit three double centuries in ODI cricket. He made the record for highest runs scored by a batsman in a single innings of ODI cricket (264 vs Sri Lanka). Because of his aggressive batting style, Rohit has been known as ‘Hitman’.

In Indian Premier League, Rohit Sharma is caption of Mumbai Indian team since 2013 and also sucessfull player in this tournament. Mumbai Indian won IPL four times under his leadership in the year 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019. He scored 4,898 with one century in IPL.

He played 32 Test Match and 224 ODI match and 107 T20 match. In 32 test match he scored 2141 runs with 6 century and 10 half century. His top score in test match is 212 run. In 224 One Day International match he scored 9115 run with 29 century and 43 half century. His top score in ODI match is 264 run. In 107 T20 match he scored 2713 run with 4 century and 20 half century. He awarded by Arjun Award in 2015.
